Onward, ever onward!

Well. Sam's gone. We're pretty sad to see him go, but we're super excited for what he has to look forward to. We've already gotten a letter and an email from him. New thing- I guess missionaries can email from the MTC now! Who knew? He seems to be doing well, is confident, but humble. I know he's a fabulous missionary!

I have here a few pictures of the him at the airport, and then my cute Aunt Clydie, who took him to the MTC, took a few pictures of him there. Along with some extra family. We're so greatful that she could do that for him, and that my grandparents and cousins could see him as well. I'm afraid most of the pictures don't do Sam justice- he didn't smile naturally in any of them! I think he may have been a little too nervous and excited.

Way to go Elder Honey!

I was tagged by Mikel and here are 7 facts about me.

1. I love music. LOVE music. I love lots of different kinds of music, but my favorite stuff, the really good stuff, it hits me at a completely different level and dimension than almost anything else in life does. It sounds cheesy- but it reaches my soul. Anyway... one of the coolest experiences I've ever had was in London, in the Tate Modern, by myself, listening to my favorite band, and soaking in Rothko.

2. It's almost impossible for me to take a less than 15 minute shower. Is that a long time? Well compared to Ross it is. Actually, probably compared to most guys. But anyway, I've tried to take a faster shower, and it almost always ends up being exactly 15 minutes and no shorter.

3. So I know that this isn't really about me, but... I married the luckiest person on earth. He's not only lucky because he married me (haha), but also because he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. For instance. As a junior in high school Ross had perfect attendance. (I think that's really funny, especially when I look back at my attendance during Junior and Senior year.) Anyway, so he was put in a drawing. For a CAR. Our of 25 other people there, Ross' keys started the car. So he got to take it home! How crazy is that? Who wins a car? And then he ALWAYS gets a good deal on everything. We got our 17" (one generation old) iMac for $375, we got $300 off my camera, etc... And then just a couple weeks ago he was in a drawing at a computer store and won the grand prize- an iPod nano! So I don't know how he does it-- but I'm most definitely enjoying reaping the benefits!

4. My perfect job in the world would be illustration for children's literature. I love art, and I love children's books. But I didn't pursue it because I'm not very artistically talented, and I felt intimidated by the competitiveness at BYU. Lame. I know. Oh well, I really love Psychology too.

5. I really admire my mom. I want to be more like her than just about any other person. She's a kind, genuine, easy-going, intelligent, fashionable, down-to-earth (and lots of other things) person. Hardly anything ever offends, irritates, or bothers her. Everything just rolls right off her back. Now that's what I need to work on. I get annoyed a little too easily.

6. I'm with Mikel on this one. I've always wanted to live overseas at some point in my life. It doesn't have to be too long, (maybe a year) and I could even handle Russia.

7. I love hot fudge sundaes. Mostly it's the hot fudge part of the sundae that I love. But it has to be thick and rich-- none of the crappy Dairy Queen stuff. Oooh...I'm just swooning thinking about rich and creamy hot fudge... If you live in the Manhattan area, Vista (on Tuttle Creek Blvd) has some GREAT hot fudge. Their ice cream is mediocre, but the hot fudge makes it all worthwhile.

Exploring Kansas

So Ross, a friend Brandon, and I all went to the....

It's an obstacle course at Kansas State. And while it was closed and we couldn't do much obstacling, we enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery. Ross attempted a couple of the more mild obstacles.

Pregnancy Update: He's kicking like crazy! I felt him for the first time about 3 weeks ago, and Ross felt him for the first time a couple of days ago. It's really fun. And...I feel fantastic, but I'm HUNGRY all the time! I can never get enough to eat. I'm going to try to enjoy this part of the pregnancy, because I know I won't always feel this good!

A plug for my dad

So I didn't take these pictures. But I wish I did. I think they're awesome. My dad took them. I'm usually partial to natural light and settings, but this is evidence that studio stuff can be pretty dang cool too.

SAMMY's a MISSIONARY!

Okay, not quite yet-- still about a month to go. But isn't he a cute one?? I like to scroll back and forth between this and the last post- before and after the cut. Can you tell it's the same person?

Oh, and not to forget...

CALIFORNIA, here he comes! Sam is going on a mission. He just got his call last Friday, and he's going to California, San Jose! He leaves December 5th. We're so excited for him! He's going to be a fantastic missionary. Everyone loves him. I wish I had a picture of him with his new missionary haircut. This was taken of him this past summer. He looks so different now! I'll work on getting an updated picture.

ITS A BOY!

I'm 19 1/2 weeks and today we had our ultrasound! It didn't take long to figure out that it's a boy! Ross started grinning from ear to ear the moment she said that it's a baby boy. I'm really excited too. I still can't believe it. Looking at that screen made it so real. He actually looks like a baby! I only have the one picture of the ultrasound- Ross took the rest to work. And here is a picture of me as well. Ross is always home late and we forget about taking a picture, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. My belly is starting to look nice and round now. Before it just looked like the result of poor eating habits and no exercise.
